HOPE International Development Agency Japan is an international NGO headquartered in Nagoya, working in Asia and Africa. We are looking for individuals who wish to extend compassion to those in need through fundraising. We welcome those who resonate with our mission and are passionate about tackling social issues.


Overview

Position: Fundraising Staff / Fundraiser (Full-time)

Location: Nagoya office (Kansai negotiable / 2–3 days remote work possible per week)

Job Description

Fundraising Staff Position (Nagoya, possibly Kansai based)

Fundraising (Full-time) 


Major tasks include, but not limited to:

  • Actively seeking and recruiting new supporters both individual and corporate (making contact, preparing material, face-to-face meeting, follow-up etc.)
  • Work alongside and support the Executive Director in relating to existing supporters and recruiting new supporters for raising funding towards our overseas projects
  • Relate to and recruit sponsors for annual dinners in Nagoya and Kansai (includes handling inquiries, requesting information where needed, etc.)
  • Expand partnership base by community outreach activities and networking, building strong relationships with stakeholders and expanding base of monthly donors
  • Management of donor lists
  • Coordinate and manage internal events, especially Nagoya and Kansai Charity dinners.
  • Support fundraising events by supporters 

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be effective in a dynamic environment and highly motivated to help the poor. He or she will understand the requirements of working for an NGO, where flexibility, resourcefulness, creativity, aggressiveness and drive are highly valued, and have a track record of delivering results in that setting. He/she will be motivated by the satisfaction of raising money so that HOPE may partner with more and more people, helping them out of poverty.

The ideal candidate must have the following:


  • Highly motivated to raise the necessary resources to assist the poor in becoming self-reliant
  • Background in marketing, sales, public relations, fundraising
  • Sales/marketing experience relating to Japanese and foreign business leaders and individuals
  • 3 years of work in Japanese business environment


  • Business level communication skills in both spoken and written Japanese
  • Business level communication skills in spoken English, and good level in written English


  • Ability to relate well to different people with different values, backgrounds and social positions.
  • Work well within a team while being able to be a self-starter and self-motivated
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing situations


  • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Basic knowledge and usage experience of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and Google documents/spreadsheets
  • Desire to learn new skills


The following are major pluses:

  • Experience in Fundraising
  • IT skills
  • Experience in team management, especially volunteers
  • Experience in social media
  • Experience in organizing events

Location

It is expected that this position will be based in Nagoya office or possibly in Kansai.

Working remotely for 2–3 days/week is acceptable.

Conditions

  • 40 hours/week (full-time)
  • full legal social welfare coverage
  • monthly salary of ¥200,000 ~¥300,000 (in accordance with HOPE-JP's policies)
  • side jobs allowed within policy
  • weekends off
  • summer and end-year holidays
