HOPE × CANELÉ ET CRÈME GLACÉE

In 2020, Bride to Be, a business that plans weddings in Nagoya, got in touch with us to find ways whereby they can contribute to SDGs. After discussions, they opened a pastry shop CANELÉ ET CRÈME GLACÉE, and set up a system so that a portion of Canelé's sales would be donated to several causes; water projects in developing countries, the promotion of vaccinations, the fight against COVID-19, nursing care / persons with disabilities, and school lunches in developing countries. For each canelé sold three yen (¥3) will be donated towards one of these causes that their customers choose. Donations chosen for the water projects will support HOPE’s work in Ethiopia.

Thoughts of the store manager

"When a customer purchases one of our products, 3 yen are donated to a social cause, and we ask the customers to choose the cause they wish to support. We want our customers to feel happy from the bottom of their hearts when eating our pastries. And we would like their happiness to contribute to a better future."

HOPE × Wool Fabric Project

Do you know how much water is required to make a business suit? If water used in the manufacturing process is included, approximately 850 liters!

On the other hand, in the rural communities that HOPE works with in Cambodia, where access to water is difficult, one person lives on an average of five liters of water a day when water supply systems such as wells are not available. This is equivalent to 1/170th of the water utilized to make one business suit. Moreover, this water, typically fetched from rivers and ponds, is unsafe.
Unlike in Japan where access to clean water is a given, more than 2 billion people in the world do not have access to clean water. To address this problem, the United Nations has set up a goal, as one of the SDGs, to ensure access to clean water and safe sanitation for all.

In recent years, in light of the enormous amount of water used in the manufacturing processes, there are an increasing number of companies in the apparel industry that evaluate performance not only by profit but also by the sustainability of its business.

By purchasing specific fabrics for which the proceeds will become donation, you can contribute to this cause and provide clean water to those in need!
