Dear Friends of HOPE,
Well wishes from HOPE Japan! May you have joy, health, and prosperity in 2024.
Thank you for your unwavering support of Helping the Neglected Poor Become Self-reliant. Your contributions this year will give those in ultra-poverty access to clean water, education, and critical livelihood resources. Here is a brief overview of our projects and programs for 2024.
But first, what's my New Year's Resolution? To stand strong and do good each day.
Please, as you did last year, join me at HOPE Japan at one (or all) of our annual dinners in Nagoya, Kansai, or Tokyo, and let's make a "Toast to Clean Water"!
Cheers to a very Happy New Year!
In 2024, HOPE Japan will continue with construction of 14 wells and 42 latrines at homes and schools alongside training in sanitation and hygiene, as well as provide startup tools, seeds and training for home gardens to 50 households in Sameit Village, Pursat Province in their integrated community development project. HOPE is continuing to fundraise to build an elementary school in Krawsaing Pnov, and for an additional classroom / library for the Sameit Village School. Here also 5 cows will be provided for family farms in 2024.
Construction of the Balta, Bagara, Uba Yambala, and Kale Malo water systems and sanitary latrines at village schools will all be completed by early 2024. The clean water resources with sanitation and hygiene education will prevent most waterborne diseases in Oyda district. The sanitary latrines and education at the schools will stop the open defecation disease vectors. The Women’s Empowerment through Community Participatory Water Supply System, which benefit some 19,806 people through self-help groups and income generating activities that began in 2021 are a priority for HOPE throughout 2024, and we want to extend this into more villages. HOPE is working to improve women’s health and well-being with hygiene and menstrual health programs. These water, sanitation, hygiene education, and microfinance projects will help these communities emerge from ultra-poverty.
HOPE Japan is providing more opportunities for higher education to Indigenous Youth in the Philippines who otherwise would be deprived due to social and financial reasons. We are deeply thankful to the generous donors that provide scholarship funds for these outstanding students.
Please join one of our annual charity dinners in Nagoya, Kansai, and Tokyo where we premiere our integrated community development video reports. These enjoyable events provide opportunities for you to participate in helping resolve water, education, and livelihoods needs of those in most need. All funds raised support our mission to Help the Neglected Poor become Self-reliant in Ethiopia, Cambodia, and the Philippines.
Your donation supports HOPE's projects. You can be assured that your gift will make a significant difference to those in most need in Cambodia, Ethiopia, and the Philippines.
