Cambodia

Cambodia Water Projects

Our longstanding commitment to the people of Pursat Province continues. This year, we will working with the villages of Angkrong and Ta Deis, who have never received any form of assistance to date. Working together with approximately 400 families, we will be installing new clean water wells and lavatories and training them on health and sanitation. Micro-credit programs, to help households increase their income and farming productivity, will also be essential aspects of our activities there. Follow up and ongoing training for families assisted in 2016 will also continue.

Yokohama International School school building project

The junior class of Y.I.S. are due to return to Pursat in February to build a new school for the village of Ta Deis. With 261 children in need of a safe building structure, Y.I.S.'s dedicated support is very welcome, and special thanks goes to the students of Y.I.S. who have donated their time to fund raise and volunteer for this special initiative.

Ethiopia

HOPE projects in Ethiopia

Last year, over 6,800 people in the village of Tsayte finally accessed a life-long supply of clean water, as a water system with 33 water points was installed, alongside 8 public toilets to reinforce the message of need for proper sanitation. Following on from this, and to fortify the road to self-reliance for the families of Tsayte, micro-credit programs that will secure reliable sources of income, will be offered 2017. The women of Tsayte will be forming Self-Help Groups, as together they learn about managing their finances, establishing new means of income and safely taking out loans to realise their dreams. Notably, by helping women achieve financial stability and independence, our micro-credit programs are also designed to raise the status of women in communities.

The Philippines

HOPE Projects in The Philippines

14 students enrolled at the the Pamulaan Centre – a university for Indigenous Youth – under the sponsorship of HOPE-JP supporters last year, and our commitments to supporting their studies will continue, until they graduate in 2019. We are also planning to support new entrees this year, and will also continue to support elementary school programs in Indigenous Communities, working with our longstanding local partner to help Indigenous Communities overcome the challenges they face from extreme poverty and marginalization.
